GREAT NEWS
– We asked for better, brighter C9 replacement bulbs and our manufacturer came through for us! I have tested our retro-fit C9’s against 4 other well known sellers and ours have theirs beat not only in brightness but appearance as well. You will notice a shiny luster to our bulbs. The epoxy used is not made
from recycled plastic’s and not dull and lacking luster like others. Our bulbs have 4 LED lights in each lens and because of the better quality of the LED’s used
they are just as bright or brighter then the C9’s with 5 LED’s in each lens. Are you wondering about price? We will be able to sell these in the same
range as the 5 LED bulbs used by other company’s even though they are better quality LED’s . We are very happy with these and think you will be to.CHECK THEM OUT HERE!
The “LED Killers” Test Results of Our C9 Retrofit Bulbs
The construction of the bulbs is generally good. You should not have any issues with lenses coming apart as I've seen in others. The adhesion of the lens to the base appears to be very good, unlike some brands where I can easily twist the bulb apart.
The faceting and shape of these lenses do a very good job of light dispersion. The bulbs are generally viewable from most any angle which is not common with LED C9 retros. Even at a 90 degree angle, and even though they won't match up to an incandescent bulb, the severe angle light is bright and visible. Part of this comes from the position the LEDs are mounted inside the bulb.
Colors are generally very rich. Color by color:
Red - Deep color - not the brightest of all the colors tested, but red generally isn't. Very usable.
Blue - Very rich, very bright. This color is powerful but not overbearing as some blues can be.
Green - The green bulb competes with blue in terms of brightness, and while it looks like alot of other LED greens the color is just a bit washed out. It's more of a bright lime green than a deep rich green. Existing green LED users will like this bulb, but incandescent converts may need some time to adjust.
Cool White - This bulb is very bright, and highly usable. It's also not your traditional "Cool white". It's more of a soft white, with a little less bluish-tint than what we all think of as cool white. I would definitely recommend this bulb.
Warm White - Ah, warm white. This bulb is usable and manages to provide a color temperature that isn't overly yellow, but it's not anywhere near as bright as the cool white. Fortunately the lens faceting helps save this bulb's overall rating, for if it wasn't for that lens the bulb would emit almost no light at a 90 degree viewing angle.
Purple - Or is it Pink? Purple is one of those colors no one seems to be able to get right. This manufacturer appears to have taken an interesting route - sacrificing color accuracy for brightness. The result is a bulb that I think is supposed to be purple but really looks more "pink-ish". Still nowhere near as bright as blue, green, and cool white, but I can see where this bulb might be very attractive to some.
Yellow / Amber / Gold- This bulb has many of the same problems as the warm white. Lower output, but fortunately the lens salvages off-angle light dispersion. I'm not sure what color this is supposed to be, so I'll call it amber as I think that best describes it. If you plan to mix this bulb with some of the others you may notice that the others overpower it a bit. Used amongst others of the same color this shouldn't be a problem. The color itself is quite soothing.
Generally speaking these are good bulbs. Their electrical response is excellent, with very fast startup and shutdown times. Shimmer effects are very vibrant and dramatic with these bulbs. However, these bulbs should only be used in static displays, or at best animated displays that DO NOT use ramp or fade effects. Turning the bulbs on and off is fine as long as 100% power is applied to them when they're turned on, but like almost every other retrofit I have tested, they will destroy themselves at the first ramp or sustained undervoltage, the result being that they will no longer operate properly from that point forward.
